Assessing product groups

Product groups with the best potential were identified, and a short list of prioritized product groups was composed. National workshops in the Nordics were conducted to validate the assessment of the product groups.

Project kick off

A kick-off meeting was held with the included parties and representatives from the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Literature study

As a part of the early stages of the project, a literature study made the grounds for the identification of existing Product Service Systems.

Investigation of PSS in the Nordics

An account of the current Product Service Systems was drafted and published.

Mapping of product groups and value chains

A literature and statistics review of relevant product groups was first conducted. On account of this, interviews with relevant stakeholders were completed.

Review of policy framework

Relevant regulation, policies and strategies in the Nordic countries were analyzed. Key barriers of policy instruments and initiatives supporting the transition of PSS were identified and published.

Incentives and barriers to Product Service Systems were identified and evaluated in this step. One focus group was conducted in several Nordic countries. An account of the incentives and barriers to Product Service Systems was published.

Recommendations and reporting

A final report on the evaluation of Product Service Systems in the Nordics was drafted and published.

Step Three

An evaluation of Product Service Systems in the Nordics was composed in this step.

Step Four

Facilitation of Product Service System pilots will be composed and realized in this step.

Establish set-up for pilots in the Nordic region

Other pilot projects will be reviewed to identify potential synergies. Criteria for imminent pilots will be determined, and application material and manuals will be composed.

A business model will be developed to support the pilot process in this step. Furthermore, applicants to the pilot projects will be picked out on account of the criteria, and then implemented.
